Surface-Effect Mounts integrate surface-effect damping principles with traditional rubber-bonded-to-metal technology, resulting in a soft mount that effectively dampens vibrations across large deflections and a wide frequency range. Designed for use as cab and engine mounts in both on- and off-highway vehicles, these mounts meet stringent requirements for vibration isolation and noise attenuation while effectively controlling motion. They feature a damper pack with an elastomer that interacts with a sliding surface, generating both hysteretic and friction damping. When conventional mounts fall short of vehicle performance needs, Surface-Effect Mounts excel in managing noise and vibration, ultimately enhancing ride comfort, product performance, and maintainability.

The adjustable damping and decoupling features of Surface-Effect Mounts significantly reduce development and testing time while minimizing optimization costs. By adding or removing damping disks in the mount’s surface-effect pack, users can easily modify the contact area and damping levels for prototype adjustments. These mounts are simply constructed, lacking pressure seals and fluids, which eliminates the risk of leaks associated with hydraulic mounts. In accelerated durability tests, they have successfully endured over 11 million cycles—equivalent to 3 million kilometers (2 million miles) of Class 8 truck cab service—without significant wear.
